The Story of the Picky Puppy Bakery!

Daisy and Roxanne - Best Buddies

Disaster struck our house on January 4, 2005. Our dog Daisy, a 4 year old Pit/Lab mix was diagnosed with Lymphoma on that day.

We wanted her to have the best care possible. Nothing was too good for our Daisy Doo! Luckily our vet, Dr. Karin, the owner of Creature Comforts Veterinary Service has chemo therapy for all kinds of pets who have cancer.

Daisy was put on a two week schedule for chemo therapy and responded well to the regime. Several sickness bouts resulted in a visit with Dr. Karin accompanied by our prayers and hopes for her to feel better.

Do I have to?

Lymphoma is incurable, but we can still continue to give her a great life for however long she has left.

Dr. Karin explained that dogs often outlive the predictions of longevity when they are very happy and feel loved! (If that's the case, Daisy will outlive us all.)

Daisy needed to maintain her weight in order to tolerate her treatments, and in doing so, developed a "sweet tooth." Her changed taste buds led Daisy to become the household thief, stealing sugary things! She really loves Twinkees! However, I just could not allow her to eat all those carbohydrates and fats.

The answer was to make candies suitable for Canines. She LOVED them, and they grew to become our first product line, K-9 Kandy.

Daisy also developed a strong craving for savory items. I researched everything I could find about HEALTHY ingredients and consulted with Dr. Karin. I gradually created every recipe from scratch using human consumption quality ingredients. I use whole grains, butter, eggs, fat free milk and real cheeses, bought right at a grocery store!

Not only does Daisy love everything I make, each item has my vet's approval. Neighborhood dogs got samples too, and they all came back and barked for more!

Daisy is our Picky Pup, and she is why Picky Puppy Bakery is now a flourishing business. And you now know HOW it became so popular.

I believe Daisy is an angel sent by God so I could realize my purpose in life. I thank God every day that I have with Daisy, she is truly a wonderful dog.

Daisy continues with periodic chemo therapy and her spirit and love is an inspiration to us all. I know the day will come when she crosses the Rainbow Bridge and I will lose her, but she will live on in spirit in the Picky Puppy Bakery!
